The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is probably my favourite movie of the trilogy. The trilogy itself pales in comparison to The Lord Of The Rings, but the first movie of the Hobbit trilogy had the right tone, and was centered on what made The Hobbit book so good: it was Bilbo’s adventure and was focussed on Bilbo and his companions, the dwarves.
The movie’s soundtrack is great as well; Howard Shore did a great job coming up with Epic songs for all the movies. Today though, I’m listening to one specific song on repeat: Misty Mountains is the song the dwarves were singing together around the fire at Bilbo’s place, and was perfect to set the tone for their upcoming adventure. Enjoy!
If like me you like to listen to songs on repeat, you may be interested in this one-hour version of the song :)
