Working for Automattic is pretty great. I work from home, and also get to travel from time to time. After Hawaii, India, San Francisco, Spain, and a few other places, we decided to head to Dublin for a week to meet, and work on delivering better support for Jetpack, VaultPress, and Akismet users.
We worked and made some good progress on important projects, but we also had fun! ? We walked around Trinity College, saw the Book of Kells, did the Guinness Tour, visited the Irish Whiskey Museum, learnt to prepare 2 Whiskey cocktails, ate a lot of good things, played games, and had some really interesting discussions.
Uncovering some of Jetpack’s little secrets with the local WordPress community
On Wednesday, we were invited to join a local WordPress meetup. I talked about some of Jetpack’s little secrets, and we then answered questions about life at Automattic. It was a nice evening, we had lots of great conversations and good beers. :)
Here is a selection of the pictures taken by our host, Techmeetup Space.
A day in Glendalough
We ended the week by a day in the Irish countryside. Glendalough is an old city not far from Dublin. It’s a beautiful place! We walked around one of the lakes, took pictures, and spent some time exploring and taking pictures of the ruins of an early-medieval monastic settlement next to the lake. I took a few pictures:
Some of my colleagues took more pictures:
