TV: Prison Break is coming back

TV has changed a lot over the past 15 years. Shows are different, how we watch TV is different. 15 years ago, bingeing wasn’t a thing; very few shows had a real storyline, and the budget of prime time TV shows in general was quite low. There was HBO of course, but series like The Wire were the exception, not the norm. And then things changed. A few shows are directly responsible for making serialized TV series a thing. I think my generation will always remember Lost and 24, 2 of the first big shows that introduced us to good storytelling on TV. I personally became addicted to TV with 2 other shows: Heroes and Prison Break. I got hooked to TV with those 2 shows. And now, after 7 years, Prison Break is back!

Ready for The Defenders?

Did you like Marvel’s Daredevil, season 1 and 2? You probably watched Jessica Jones as well, where we got to know Luke Cage and discovered that all 3 characters lived in the same city and would maybe make a good team.

Well, that’s happening! Make note, as there are 3 more series coming up on Netflix for you:

Marvel’s Luke Cage

Marvel’s Iron Fist

A new hero joins the team! I’m so waiting for that one. It has a nice mystical feeling to it, a la Doctor Strange. And, you know, Kung Fu! :)

Marvel’s The Defenders

And finally, the whole team coming together!

TV Series: Better Call Saul

To this day, Breaking Bad still is one of my favourite TV Shows. The story, the photography, the characters, the soundtrack, … That show brought TV Shows to a new level. I was thrilled when I learned that one of the characters, Saul Goodman, would get his own show, created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, who also worked on Breaking Bad.

Stephen King’s 11.22.63, next year on Hulu!

I’m a big Stephen King fan, and although I don’t usually enjoy James Franco I’m really looking forward to this new show! It’s only 9 episodes, so they won’t be tempted to go off book and the end result shouldn’t be as bad as Under The Dome.

If you haven’t read the book, do it now! It’s a good one

And since we’re talking TV series, I must point out (again) that this is NOT how you release a new TV show / product:

  • Hulu is only available in the US.
  • All their communications mention that the show will be premiering “on President’s Day 2016”. Now a lot of you all are probably a lot smarter than me, but I don’t really enjoy having to google “President’s Day 2016” to find out when the show will actually be available (I’ll save you the trouble, it’s February 15, 2016).

The Flash: don’t blink!

The Flash

I found myself enjoying Arrow a lot more than I expected. The first season wasn’t great, and the acting is still not perfect, but the show has come a long way, I think.

That’s why I’m excited to see what The Flash will bring to this DC universe we see making its way into our televisions (also see Gotham, scheduled for the fall as well).

And let’s face it, the new Flash looks way better than the Flash I used to watch when I was a kid :)
